Kharkiv City Charitable
Foundation "Timur"

About the Foundation

The Kharkiv City Charity Foundation "Timur" was established in Kharkiv in 1997 on the basis of the Kharkiv Children's Theater "Timur" named after Vasyl Sidin. Located in the center of the city on the basis of the Municipal Center of Culture and Amateur Arts, it has been constantly engaged in charity since its establishment, and has an inclusive orientation. The foundation is widely known in the city, country and beyond.

In peacetime

Every year, the "Timur" theater, which is supported by the foundation, was visited by more than 15,000 young spectators of the preferential contingent and their parents. During the existence of the charity foundation, 2,000,000 UAH were collected for the treatment of children with cancer. A private house was purchased for a low-income family with many children. With the support of the foundation, 28 theater performances were created. 17 theater festivals were held. 22 summer camps "Kovcheg (The Ark)" were organized. The "Temple for a Day" construction project has been implemented.

During the war

Since the beginning of the war, under favorable conditions, teachers and teenagers have started volunteering: they take care of the elderly, provide humanitarian aid and medicine, and evacuate the civilians out of dangerous areas. 50 tons of humanitarian food aid were delivered to residents of Kharkiv and the region affected by military aggression (5,000 address deliveries were made). Medical supplies on more than 1,000,000 UAH were purchased and delivered. Took part in population evacuation measures. They provided psychological and emotional support to children and the elderly. Popularized volunteer activities by participating in stories for Ukrainian, German and American television and radio.

Art shelter "Culture"

In the winter of 2023, the volunteers of the foundation implemented the Art-shelter project "Culture", which made it possible to create a safe stage area which, in February-March, already hosted 56 performances by various groups that were visited by more than 6,000 spectators.

Currently, the children's theater "Timur", the Kharkiv State Academic Puppet Theater named after V. A. Afanasyev, the Kharkiv Academic Drama Theater, the Ukrainian Modern Theater and other groups are playing on the "Cultures" stage in safe conditions.

The "Culture" art shelter becomes a base for the resumption of theatrical activity in Kharkiv, which was practically suspended with the beginning of a full-scale invasion.
